| Important Update

Góðan Dag !

Few people have asked me privately and on the blog about how they can contribute or give back some of their winnings. Thanks to all those who offered to help. You may have already noticed that I’ve a team at and some generous traders have already made contribution to it. If you would like to help financially then please visit team page and contribute whatever you can. Note that you have option to Donate or Lend money. If you choose to lend then you get your funds back after the “cause” has been met.  ( By the way free signals to those who can guess the language of greeting above ;) )

New Author

If you are regular on the blog then you would notice “Diet Pipsi” who has been actively helping out other traders. Last week I suggested him to become an Author on this blog and he has accepted it kindheartedly.  Please give him a warm welcome.

When it comes to contribution there are many other traders who actively participate and help others. Indy, Dave, Liaueg, Vince, Ed are few of such names, there are many others and I apologize if I’ve forgot to mention yours. If any of you would like to add content to the blog or have other ideas then please let me know.

Comment RSS

For those who are into RSS, note that there is a RSS for comments as well. You can use this link. If you like to read RSS of only a particular post then look for RSS button at the top where comments starts. Place your mouse over it and then you will see link for “RSS Feed”.

New Signal Format

There has been some suggestions to change Signal format for better understanding. I am considering it now and if you have any suggestions the please post them here with examples. For people who are writing EAs based on Twitter Feed, please note that I won’t make changes before letting everyone know first.

Instant Messenger

Signals via Google Talk are working out great and if you like to receive signals then add “” to your buddy list on Google Talk. Please remember not to use it to ask questions.

That’s all for this week. Good Luck !

May I suggest the following format for the forex signals email?

    I have:
1.added a number for the Update
2.added the level of the Target Profit amounts (and kept the pip amount)
3.added a reminder of when the next update will be published.

    May I also suggest that:
1.order updates need not mention the trade in details, but just the currency pair.
    2.We could use acronyms?

I for one am not offended, and thank you for thinking of that. By the same token I also do not mean to offend. My feedback on each thing, starting at the bottom and moving up:

I think it is pointless to put in when the next update will be. They are every 4 hours. If you follow this system for a day and a half, you'll know exactly what time of day to go check. For example, the correct 4-hour bars begin and end at 2pm, 6pm, 10pm, 2am, 6am, 10am for me in my timezone. So I just know that right now it's 1:23pm for me, and so in about 45 minutes I need to check. Within a day or two, you'll know which hours it is for you in your timezone, and then just go at that time and there it is.

I think it is backwards and counter productive to remove the order details from the updates. In fact, if you follow them for long you will see that we get into some that go for three and four bars or longer, and you will be constantly looking back for the previous signals to remind you what you were supposed to be doing on a current trade. So before long you'll find that you wish each update contained slightly more information. Further, it's much easier when doing the update to just copy and paste the last bar's info, and then only change what changes. This is how FP has said he does the typing work! Deleting stuff does take extra time. With that said, speaking for myself I am willing to spend the extra time if it helps make a cleaner presentation, and I believe FP would agree. But in this case, although the presentation might be cleaner, I think it is important to have that information on the updates. Just my opinion.

Calculating the price of each level instead of just saying how many pips it is, I can't speak for FirePips, he has said in the past he will go to that effort, but it does add a lot of time-consuming calculations that we can all do ourselves while he is busy doing the work of analyzing the market and giving the signals. However, if he has just input his orders manually, he has done the math already, and it may be a simple matter for him to list the target prices as well as the targets themselves. I do understand how cumbersome that is for people do do themselves, I am not trying to say I don't! As long as the pip amount is still also shown, then yes I agree that showing the targets in prices as well would make it easier on everyone else.

Acronyms is a fine idea. I don't know how much time that would save FirePips, because I assume he uses copy and paste. For the stats every bar, that's what I do, and if it changes to an acronym, it won't make any difference to me, I just copy and paste. I do think that if the acronym doesn't save any time for him, that it is better to spell out Stop Loss than to use SL, just because that would make it harder to make a mistake and grab the wrong number when your eyes only see the acronym and you are concentrating on the platform not the reading. But I would agree that's each traders responsibility!

Again, not intending to offend, and if others feel differently, by all means please speak out! Just giving my own feedback.

As a coder, I hope he kept his syntax unchanged as so far it is working well in the EA testing :)
However, if majority think changing will make it clearer, I will have to see the new syntax to make the changes accordingly

    • FirePips 15 March 2010 at 10:36 pm #

Using Acronyms is not a bad idea. It will give me more room on Twitter to add extra hash codes ( #Fx for example )

Though I think will make it harder for people to understand, you will be surprised so many people still don't get the signals :)

By the way, I am still not receiving the trade signals through google talk, but I am getting the notifications / important updates.

One last proposal, when you get filled on the trades would it be possible to send an instant notification through google talk? This way we get to know that you were filled and in case we weren’t, we could react and change the related order into a market order.

    • FirePips 15 March 2010 at 10:23 pm #

Not sure why…I've only received one other complaint….can I ask you try yahoo messenger?

I usually avoid looking at charts between candles…it creates unnecessary distraction and temptation to make changes.

wait…free signals? im confused; aren't the signals already "free?" anyhow, "dag" actually in dutch means "day." an alternative to góðan dag is goeiedag. it has germanic and dutch origins; generally meaning a greeting not necessarily "good day" only.
